Institute of Engineering and Applied Technology
Brief History
The Institute of Engineering and Applied Technology (IEAT) was established to consolidate related academic programs at the Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC). Initially, BASC, through its first president, organized six departments covering various disciplines. However, under the leadership of Dr. Josie A. Valdez, these departments were transformed into institutes to enhance their academic stature. The IEAT, as one of these institutes, was formally recognized through board resolutions in 2003 and 2007.
Under the IEAT, significant achievements were made, particularly in the Institute of Engineering, with notable success in licensure examinations for Agricultural Engineers. The institute expanded its offerings to include programs such as Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management. Leadership transitions occurred over the years, with various deans spearheading initiatives and seeking accreditations for programs.
The IEAT adapted to changing circumstances, including relocating its office and adjusting program offerings. Noteworthy accomplishments include producing licensure exam topnotchers and achieving accreditation for specialized programs. Additionally, the institute developed modules for Rice Machinery Operations, aligning with the agricultural focus of the institution.
Currently, the IEAT continues its commitment to quality education under the leadership of Prof. Michelle M. Cortez, as its Dean, housed in the IT Building since September 2023.
